Summer is well and truly here in Okinawa, with the temperatures rising and the sun shining. Checked the weather report at 9am this morning and was told that it was 31°C but that it felt “like 36°C”. Thankfully the humidity was only 70% and a sea breeze coming through my apartment managed to keep me [...]

I love this place! Some of us JETs recently checked it out the night after Okinawa. I love the post processing on these photos, I was so obsessed with the colors in my photos that I didn’t even think to make them look more vintage, but I love how yours turned out!
I am enjoying checking out your blog, Dave. I found it on a google search which actually directed me to your old blog. I am looking up information on Tonaki because a few of us are going out there next weekend and I want to do some snorkeling. This website (http://www.scubascoop.co.uk/dive_sites/diving_in_tonakijima_okinawa_j.php) directed me to an old blog you posted, but I can’t find it on your new site. Is it hiding somewhere?
Thanks!

Hello there! Always good to hear from one of my successors, and many thanks for the comments about those photos I took. I definitely want to go back and get a few more shots to play around with. There’s a lot more I should have done with framing, now I come to look at the pictures again.
As for that previous post, that was way back in the day! 3 or 4 years back if my memory serves before my old site was lost when the provider performed “maintenance” on it. Snorkelling is pretty nice on Tonaki-jima, although you never get the full experience unless you actually dive there (I usually compare it to walking somewhere versus flying).
Anyway, don’t be a stranger and all the best for the new academic year next month
